Reiki was founded by Mikao Usui in the early 1900s in Japan. "Rei" means divinely guided and "Ki" is life force energy.  Thus, Reiki is a spiritually guided and innately intelligent energy that promotes health and well being. Reiki can be learned by anyone. It may be given to any living being, including adults, children, and pets. Reiki is a holistic modality and is not a substitute for medical care. It compliments and supports your path to wellness.   

YOUR REIKI SESSION

In a typical Reiki session the client lies comfortably on a massage table. The practitioner places her hands gently on or above key energy centres, joints and areas of concern in the body and channels Reiki to the client. At Aria, we work intuitively and may also incorporate knowledge from other energy based healing work we have studied. Finally, we provide clients with knowledge of breath work and meditation techniques that help them make the most of their Reiki sessions at home.

HOW DOES REIKI WORK?

Everything, including our thoughts and our physical bodies, is made up of moving, vibrating energy. This energy is encoded with information that determines the functioning of our cells. A Reiki practitioner is attuned and trained to tap into the source of universal life force energy (also known as "chi" or "prana") for the purpose of healing. The Reiki vibration resonates at higher frequencies than we are accustomed to in daily life and thus it's application can nourish, revitalize and reprogram worn out cells and improve your overall functioning.Scientific studies by Dr. Robert Becker and Dr. John Zimmerman found that during a Reiki session the brain wave patterns of the practitioner and client become synchronized in the alpha state (a slow and meditative frequency), and they also pulse in unison with the earth's magnetic field.
